Many citizens have been recipients of the Friends of the library tax credit sales promotion over the past week. As a person considering whether or not to contribute to the Friends of the Library project, one would expect to see why it is important that the library is maintained and preserved for current users and the future generations.
As of October 24th, Sabethans have visited the library over 16,400 times in 2008 and checked out and circulated 47,939 items.

Children’s book circulation—22,634 items valued at $452,680.
Adult book circulation—14,002 items valued at $378,054.
Magazines—951 items at $3329.00
Movies/DVDs—5958 items at $131,076

If patrons had purchased all of these items that they enjoyed at the Mary Cotton Public library so far this year they would have spent over $1,017,455.00 This does not include the value of children’s programs, internet resources, research services, genealogical research and so much more.
The figures are truly a testament to the commitment and dedication of public library users in Sabetha and the surrounding community. Mary Cotton Public library really is a bargain when put into black and white.
